Background: Adeno-associated virus (AAV) is a small virus which infects humans and some other primate species. AAV is not currently known to cause disease and consequently the virus causes a very mild immune response. Gene therapy vectors using AAV can infect both dividing and quiescent cells and persist in an extrachromosomal state without integrating into the genome of the host cell. These features make AAV a very attractive candidate for creating viral vectors for gene therapy, and for the creation of isogenic human disease models

Immunogen: Adeno-associated virus type 9 (AAV-9) capsid proteins and virus particles
Form: Hybridoma culture supernatant, containing 0.09% sodium azide
Reactivity: Specific for AAV-9, found in human; in immunofluorescence microscopy and dot blot analysis no cross-reaction with AAV type 8 was observed.
Specificity: For characterization of different stages of infection and very useful for the analysis of the AAV assembly process. ADK9 specifically reacts with intact adeno-associated virus particles, empty and full capsids. Recognizes a conformational epitope of assembled capsids.
This antibody cannot be used for immunoblotting.

Incubation Time: Overnight at 2-8°C for use in immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence.
