More Information
Product Name Alpha 2,6-Sialyltransferase (Alpha 2,6-ST), Human, Mouse, Rat, ELISA Kit
Description The histopathological picture of Alzheimer's disease is characterized by senile plaques and neurobrillary tangles, and because the senile plaques form first, they are considered the initial lesion. Senile plaques are known to be formed by accumulation of b-amyloid peptide (Ab). Ab peptide is produced by the cleavage of amyloid precursor protein (APP) by two types of proteolytic enzymes. The first cleavage is performed by b-secretase (BACE1), and the second y-secretase. It is thought that their inhibitors may be capable of serving as safe drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. In recent years a glycosyltransferase involved in the biosynthesis of sugar chains (a2,6-sialyltransferase) has also been shown to be cleaved by BACE1. The cleavage site was identifed at the same time, and as a result it was demonstrated that in rats it produces cleavage-type a2,6-sialyltransferase (E41 Form). This product is a measurement kit that enables detection of human, rat and mouse a2,6-sialyltransferase. This kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA us ing 2 kinds of high specific antibodies. Tetra Methyl Benzidine (TMB) is used as coloring agent (Chromogen). The strength of coloring is in propor tion to the quantities of a2,6-sialyltransferase.
Reactivity Human, Mouse, Rat
