| Description | Pig Matrix metalloproteinase-20 (MMP20) ELISA Kit has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Pig MMP20. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Pig MMP20 and analogues was observed. MMP-20, also known as enamelysin, appears to be the only MMP that is tooth-specific and it is expressed by cells of different developmental origin. Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. This Pig Matrix metalloproteinase-20 (MMP20) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MMP20 in samples. An antibody specific for MMP20 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMMP20 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MMP20 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MMP20 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured. |
