Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs)
Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) are obtained by density gradient centrifugation of peripheral blood withdrawn from healthy animals. These cells are characterized by the presence of a defined round nucleus and include, among many others, monocytes, lymphocytes, and macrophages. PBMCs are frequently used in cytotoxicity assays for systemic drugs and T cell activation by biological or synthetic antigens.
Warning: cellular products should be handled with care.
