| Specificity | This antibody recognises human defensin beta 3 (BD-3), a 45aa ~5 kDa cationic non-haemolytic antimicrobial peptide expressed by epithelial cells and member of the beta-defensin family. Defensin beta 3 is highly expressed in the skin and tonsils and at lower levels in other tissues. Defensin beta 3 plays an important role in the innate immune response to potentially pathogenic microbes, including multiresistant S. aureus and vancomycin-resistant E. faecium. |
