More Information
Product Name Anti-Perilipin, C-terminal specific Polyclonal Antibody
Description Perilipin, also known as lipid droplet-associated protein or PLIN, is a protein that, in humans, is encoded by the PLIN gene. Perilipin is a protein that coats lipid droplets in adipocytes, the fat-storing cells in adipose tissue. Perilipin acts as a protective coating from the body's natural lipases, such as hormone-sensitive lipase, which break triglycerides into glycerol and free fatty acids for use in metabolism, a process called lipolysis.
Synonyms PERI, PLIN, FPLD4
Clonality Polyclonal
Immunogen C-terminus of perilipin (hCTA/B; aa 507 - 519; cf. Greenberg et al. 1992, JBC 266, 11341-11346)
Specificity The antiserum reacts specifically with perilipins located at the surface of intracellular storage lipid droplets present e.g. in the adrenal gland, adipocytes of white and brown adipose tissue and cultured cells such as 3T3-L1 adipocytes and cultured steroidogenic adrenal cortical and Leydig cells. The antiserum does not cross react with adipophilin (ADRP) or TIP47 proteins (additional membrane of the PAT-family).
Reactivity Bovine, Human
Applications IHC, WB
Form Stabilized Serum
Storage 2-8C
