More Information
Product Name Anti-Symplekin Monoclonal Antibody
Description This gene encodes a nuclear protein that functions in the regulation of polyadenylation and promotes gene expression. The protein forms a high-molecular weight complex with components of the polyadenylation machinery. It is thought to serve as a scaffold for recruiting regulatory factors to the polyadenylation complex. It also participates in 3'-end maturation of histone mRNAs, which do not undergo polyadenylation. The protein also localizes to the cytoplasmic plaques of tight junctions in some cell types. Mouse Monoclonal Antibody to Symplekin. Polypeptide reacting: Symplekin, 126.5 kD polypeptide (calculated from aa sequence data); apparent Mr 150 kD (after SDS-PAGE); pI 6.5.
Synonyms SPK, SYM, SYMPK
Clonality Monoclonal
Clone Sym-TJ-E150
Immunogen Human symplekin
Isotype IgG1
Specificity The mab reacts specifically with symplekin (a 150 kDa polypeptide) present in 1) tight junctions (zonula occludens) of polar epithelia and Sertoli cells of testis (but not their vascular endothelia!) and 2) exclusively in the nucleoplasm of these and many other cell types which do not form tight junctions (e.g. stratified epithelia such as oesophagus, tongue mucosa, epidermis; squamous cell carcinoma; non- epithelia such as fibroblasts, endothelia, lymphocytes).
Reactivity Amphibian, Human, Mouse, Rat
Applications IHC, WB
Form Hybridoma culture supernatant
