| Product Name | CK-20 Monoclonal Antibody |
|---|---|
| Description | KRT20 is a member of the keratin family. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. The type I cytokeratins consist of acidic proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains. This cytokeratin is a major cellular protein of mature enterocytes and goblet cells and is specifically expressed in the gastric and intestinal mucosa. Diseases associated with KRT20 include Merkel Cell Carcinoma and Cystic Teratoma. Cytokeratin 20 (CK20) has a molecular weight of 46 kDa, which is the main marker of gastrointestinal epithelial, urethral epithelial and Merkel cells. CK20 is mainly used for diagnosis of gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma, ovarian mucinous tumors and Merkel cell carcinoma. There is no expression of CK20 in squamous cell carcinoma, breast cancer, lung cancer, endometrial cancer and ovarian non-mucinous tumors.Plays a significant role in maintaining keratin filament organization in intestinal epithelia. When phosphorylated, plays a role in the secretion of mucin in the small intestine (By similarity). |
