More Information
Product Name GLP-1 (1-37) (human, rat)
Description GLP-1 (1-37) is a pancreatic hormone resulting from post-translational proteolysis of proglucagon. GLP-1(1-37) does not affect food intake in rats and does not enhance pancreatic insulin. It is secreted by the small intestine in response to nutrient ingestion with wide-ranging effects on glucose metabolism, including stimulation of insulin release, inhibition of glucagon secretion, reduction of gastric emptying and satiety. The insulinotropic actions of GLP-1 depend on ambient glucose concentrations, making it highly relevant in type 2 diabetes. GLP-1 (1-37) also has an important role in the cardiovascular system.
