Product Name | PLP (139-151) |

Description | PLP (139-151), or proteolipid protein (139-151) is a myelin proteolipid protein (PLP) fragment. PLP is one of the major protein constituents of myelin, along with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) and myelin basic protein (MBP), which between them make up 15% - 25% of dry weight, the rest being mainly lipids. Myelin has an essential insulating role for nerves, allowing normal motor function, sensory function and cognition. Animals immunized with PLP (139-151) develop severe experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) and this model is widely used to study human multiple sclerosis (MS). |
