Description | Rat Neural cell adhesion molecule 1 (NCAM1) ELISA Kit has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Rat NCAM1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Rat NCAM1 and analogues was observed. NCAM1 encodes a cell adhesion protein which is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded protein NCAM1 is involved in cell-to-cell interactions as well as cell-matrix interactions during development and differentiation. The encoded protein has been shown to be involved in development of the nervous system, and for cells involved in the expansion of T cells and dendritic cells which play an important role in immune surveillance. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. This Rat Neural cell adhesion molecule 1 (NCAM1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate NCAM1 in samples. An antibody specific for NCAM1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyNCAM1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for NCAM1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of NCAM1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured. |
