More Information
Product Name Anti-Cytokeratin/Keratin K6hf (Keratin K75) Polyclonal Antibody
Description This gene is a member of the type II keratin family clustered on the long arm of chromosome 12. Type I and type II keratins heteropolymerize to form intermediate-sized filaments in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells. This gene is expressed in the companion layer, upper germinative matrix region of the hair follicle, and medulla of the hair shaft. The encoded protein plays an essential role in hair and nail formation. Variations in this gene have been associated with the hair disorders pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) and loose anagen hair syndrome (LAHS).
Synonyms KRT75, PFB, K6HF, KB18
Immunogen Synthetic peptide of human type II cytokeratin 6hf (C-FTTSGGHSLGAGLDDSGFSATSNRGL),
Specificity The antiserum stains specifically the companion layer (innermost layer of the outer root sheath) of the hair follicle. Although there is a considerable homology of keratin K75 (K6hf) to keratins K5 and K6, no cross-reactivity was observed, neither in Western blotting nor in immunofluorescence microscopy.
Reactivity Human, Mouse
Applications IHC, WB
Form Stabilized Serum
Storage 2-8C
