More Information
Product Name Anti-LRP/a2MR (85 kDa); CD92 Monoclonal Antibody
Description The protein encoded by this gene is an endocytic receptor involved in several cellular processes, including intracellular signaling, lipid homeostasis, and clearance of apoptotic cells. In addition, the encoded protein is necessary for the A2M-mediated clearance of secreted amyloid precursor protein and beta-amyloid, the main component of amyloid plaques found in Alzheimer patients. Expression of this gene decreases with age and has been found to be lower than controls in brain tissue from Alzheimer patients. Mouse Monoclonal Antibody to LRP/a2MR (85 kDa); CD92
Synonyms CD92, CDW92, CHTL1, CTL1, RP11-287A8.1
Clone 8B8
Isotype IgG1
Specificity 8B8 specifically reacts with the 85 kD beta-chain of human LRP/alpha2MR which is expressed in a restricted spectrum of cell types (for a recent review cf. Herz & Strickland). A strong immunohistochemical reaction is seen in hepato- cytes, tissue macrophages, subsets of neurones and as- trocytes in the central nervous system, fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and monocyte-derived foam cells in athero- sclerotic lesions in the arterial wall. The antibody can also be used for the characterization of a subset of myelo- monocytic subtypes of chronic and acute leukemia (CD 91)
Reactivity Hamster, Human, Mouse, Rabbit, Rat
Applications FC, IF, IHC, WB
Form Purified (Protein A), in PBS containing 1% BSA and 0.1% sodium-azide
Storage 2-8C for immediate use, or at -20C (aliquot)
