| Description | Bovine Testosterone (T) ELISA Kit has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Bovine T. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Bovine T and analogues was observed. Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid. In men, testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as the testis and prostate, as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass, and the growth of body hair. In addition, testosterone is involved in health and well-being, and the prevention of osteoporosis. Insufficient levels of testosterone in men may lead to abnormalities including frailty and bone loss. This Bovine Testosterone (T) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate T in samples. An antibody specific for T has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyT present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for T is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of T bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured. |
