| Description | Canine Matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP3) ELISA Kit has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Canine MMP3. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Canine MMP3 and analogues was observed. Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. Matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP3) degrades fibronectin, laminin, collagens III, IV, IX, and X, and cartilage proteoglycans. Matrix metalloproteinase 3 is thought to be involved in wound repair, progression of atherosclerosis, and tumor initiation. MMP3 is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3. This Canine Matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP3) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MMP3 in samples. An antibody specific for MMP3 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMMP3 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MMP3 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MMP3 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured. |
